BRIDGE REOPENED
U.S Route 2 bridge between Middlesex and Moretown now open
MIDDLESEX, Vt. (AP) – Commuters between Montpelier and Waterbury can take the back way home again.
The Route 2 bridge in Middlesex is once again open to traffic.
The Vermont Agency of Transportation says a new one-lane temporary bridge over the Winooski River was opened yesterday afternoon.
It replaces an 80-year-old bridge, which was closed in May after it was deemed unsafe.
The one-lane bridge will be regulated by a traffic light.
Current plans call for construction of a permanent replacement bridge to begin in 2010.
