An Addison County school is closed for the rest of the week after a mysterious illness kept 80 of the 130 staff and students home yesterday.

The Vermont Department of Health told WCAX-TV that they’re investigating the large number of illnesses at Bridport Central School.

Officials say symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting and they think it may be an outbreak of norovirus, also known as stomach flu.

The Health Department says it may take a few more days to collect samples and to confirm whether norovirus is to blame.

In the meantime, students and staff are staying home and the school is being sanitized.
