Governor Jim Douglas says he’s prepared to put more money into the state corrections budget to finance improvements in the system. The governor says he supports the recommendations issued today by the corrections commissioner.

The recommendations would fix problems identified two weeks ago by independent investigators. That investigation was launched in December after a series of deaths at state prisons. Douglas said today he plans to ask lawmakers to add money to the state budget to implement the changes.
