Here’s another example of the state’s winter resorts branching out into four-season recreation: Burke Mountain Ski Area in northeastern Vermont soon will be offering lift rides up the mountain to mountain bikers, and opening a new downhill bike park.

The new service will be offered weekends and holidays from mid-June to mid-October. It will use the lift to service single-track trails and a new premier jump trail.

Burke is working with Kingdom Trails, which says it maintains about 100 miles of mountain bike trails in the region.

Bike Magazine has ranked its trail network the best in North America.
