The Burlington City Council has a new president.

Democratic Councilman Bill Keogh was elected Monday night by acclamation, ending a 14-vote deadlock between Davis and Progressive Clarence Davis.

Keogh’s election came after Davis withdrew his name from consideration. Davis says he did so because the city comes before his personal wants.

Keogh is a 13-year council veteran. He says one of his primary goals will be to work with the administration of Progressive Mayor Bob Kiss.
