The city of Burlington is celebrating a new extension to its downtown pedestrian street. The city will dedicate the newest addition to the Church Street Marketplace – the City Hall Block – on Friday evening.
Crews have been working most of the summer to transform that part of Church Street from a roadway for cars into a walkway for people. Organizers say the centerpiece of the extended pedestrian mall is a brick mosaic depicting earth and the cities and the share the same longitude as Burlington.
