A Burlington man has made it to the top of Mount Everest as part of a Connecticut-based expedition. The 28-year-old Dave Watson called his parents in Connecticut at about 10:15 Wednesday night from the summit of the 29,035-foot mountain. That was about 7:45 a.m. local time in Nepal.

Watson is a professional climbing guide. Many climbers die trying to climb Mount Everest. A Japanese woman died today on her way down from the mountain’s summit. Dave Watson’s father says his son has descended from the summit of Mount Everest and is back at the base camp, out of the danger area.
