Bus service may expand to Springfield

Bus service soon may become available to the general public in the Springfield region. Connecticut River Transit has been tapped by the state to expand service in Windham and southern Windsor counties.

The company will continue to provide transportation to the elderly, disabled and people enrolled in the Medicaid program who need a ride to medical appointments. But executive director Bill Evans says Connecticut River Transit also wants to expand service to the broader population.

The Windham Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant last week to support the service.
