State police remind drivers that there will be heavy patrols this New Year’s Eve.
The extra traffic units have been on the highways throughout the holidays.
And last night, a trooper stopped a speeding car that state police say was driven by a celebrity.
Actor Matt Dillon was stopped on Interstate 91 in Newbury. A trooper says Dillon was clocked at 106 miles per hour. The speed limit on that stretch of I-91 is 65 miles per hour.
Dillon was taken into custody, photographed, fingerprinted and then released. He has a court date in Chelsea on January 21st.
State police say they’re not sure where Dillon was headed or whether he was traveling with anyone. He was driving a rented 2009 Chevrolet Impala.
