Champlain College plans “study abroad centers”

Burlington’s Champlain College is planning to open a study abroad campus in Montreal that will enable up to 30 students to live and study in Canada.

Champlain students studying in Montreal will live in a residence hall of the University of Quebec.

Champlain is also planning to open overseas centers in Ireland and Spain for Vermont-based students. A center in India is designed to educate Indian students.

Champlain President David Finney says many companies that employ graduates are multinational.

Finney says the long-term goal is to have more than half of Champlain’s 2,000 students spend a semester abroad
