Champlain College president announces retirement

(Host) Champlain College President Roger Perry will retire next year. Perry has served as president of the private college for 12 years. Before that he spent a decade as the school’s vice president for academic affairs and provost.

Among the many changes at the college during that time, Perry says he’s most proud of the school’s shift to expanded academic programs:

(Perry) “It’s been a lot of fun to watch the college grow in the last 20-odd years that I’ve been there. And clearly we’ve gone from a two-year institution to a four-year institution and that transition has been very positive for us and for our students.”

(Host) Perry says the summer of 2005 will mark the completion of several long-term infrastructure projects at the college, making it a natural time for him to retire. The college has formed a search committee to screen applicants who would succeed Perry as president.
