Champlain College in Burlington has received a major gift from the founder of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.

Robert Stiller says his $10 million donation will improve education at the college by enabling the business school to fund two faculty chairs and support capital projects.

The gift comes just five months after Green Mountain removed Stiller from his leadership role. A drop in the company’s stock price forced him to sell shares in violation of internal policies, and the coffee company’s stock price plunged.

Since some of his sales occurred in a time period that violated company policy, the company forced Stiller to relinquish his post as chairman of the company.

Champlain College announced the gift this morning. The college says it will rename its business school after Stiller. The donation is the largest donation in Champlain College’s 134-year history.
