The discovery of skeletal remains in a swampy area last week helped solve a long-running missing persons case in northern Vermont, but it doesn’t explain what happened to 18-year-old Nathan Currie.

The bones were found by a hunter about a mile from where Currie’s car was discovered abandoned at a West Charleston cemetery in July of 2006. On Wednesday, the state’s chief medical examiner’s office confirmed they were Currie’s.

Although the medical examiner’s office didn’t find anything to reveal how and why Currie died, police say experts will continue to analyze the remains.
