This is the time of year for the annual Revels, seasonal entertainments celebrating the holidays with music, dancing and audience sing-a-longs.

The Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College has been presenting its annual Christmas Revels for almost four decades, each year focusing on a different cultural time and place. This year’s Revels center on Irish immigrants traveling to New York at the time of the winter solstice.

The Hop is welcoming a new stage director this year, Helena Binder of Thetford. Binder brings an extensive background in opera to the production, and is helping steer the Christmas revels in a new direction. She speaks with VPR’s Neal Charnoff about the production.

The Christmas Revels run Thursday through Sunday, December 13th through the 16th.
