The clean up of an old polluted tannery in Pownal is scheduled to start as early as next month. The Environmental Protection Agency has hired a company to oversee the work.
The last of the work involves removing 30,000 cubic yards of contaminated sludge from lagoons on the property. The cleanup should be completed by next summer.
