The crew of a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter is being credited with pulling four stranded Canadian boaters from a wind-blown Lake Champlain.

The rescue came at about 10 p.m. yesterday more than 10 hours after the boaters reported they were in trouble on the lake.
There were no injuries among the two adults and two teenagers on the boat.

Winds of 35 to 40 miles an hour yesterday produced six foot waves on the lake. Officials say the 20-foot motorboat ran into trouble at about 11:30 yesterday morning after hitting bottom. The Coast Guard ordered the motorists to anchor.

Coast Guard and local rescue units tried to reach the boaters on the water but were unable to do so.
