Officials at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester say they’ll be discussing the future of an annual spring celebration after 101 people were cited for under-age drinking.

Those cited included Saint Mike’s students as well as visitors who had come to campus for the school’s annual “Preparation Day” celebration – a tradition that takes place the weekend before final exams.

Colchester police say the number of people cited was up from about seventy last year, and that the average level of alcohol consumed appeared to be higher.

College officials say students could face consequences including suspension, counseling, probation and fines.
