Another security breach has put the credit and debit card accounts of Vermonters at risk.

The breach happened at Heartland Payment, in Princeton, N.J., which said it did not involve merchant data, Social Security numbers, unencrypted personal identification numbers, addresses or telephone numbers.

The Vermont Bankers Association is urging consumers to monitor their credit card accounts and report any suspicious activity.

Vermont banks also are watching customers’ accounts and may decide to reissue credit and debit cards if necessary.
