(Host) In New Hampshire, a major health provider is laying off dozens of workers in response to state budget cuts.

The Valley News reports that Dartmouth-Hitchcock told workers last week that up to 100 jobs would be eliminated in the next two months.

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock system includes several hospitals, clinics and group practices.

These layoffs are part of a series of cost-cutting measures the health system has taken in recent months to close a $100 million budget shortfall.

Several other hospitals also have announced layoffs since New Hampshire’s budget took effect July 1st, and at least one has cut services to needy patients.
