John Rassias has spent his life teaching languages. But more than that he’s been teaching the teaching of languages. As a member of the faculty at Dartmouth College since 1965, and a longtime consultant for the Peace Corps, he developed the Rassias Method of intensive language learning and has taught generations of teachers how to capture the minds and spirits of young students and get them interested in studying a new language.

Speaking with VPR’s Jane Lindholm on Vermont Edition he said learning another language gives people two different ways to look at things. And that makes a real difference in how we look at ourselves and at other people.
