Dean’s Records To Become Public

Ten years after Gov. Howard Dean left office, his gubernatorial records are being made public.

About 90 boxes will become available for public inspection today.

Dean had invoked the Archives Act to seal for 10 years records that he felt were "privileged" and "sensitive."

The Times Argus reports that the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch sued to get access to the Dean records in 2005, but the Vermont Supreme Court denied the request saying Vermont’s public records law was superseded by the Archive Act.
