Airport regulations
New federal baggage screeners and equipment go into service tomorrow at Vermont’s Burlington International Airport. The federal Transportation Security Administration has been making similar upgrades at airports around the country this year, following last year’s terrorist attacks. (AP)

There are two state jobs Governor-elect Jim Douglas won’t have to worry about filling as he assembles his new administration. The commissioners of Education and Liquor Control both are appointed not by the governor, but by boards that oversee the operations of their agencies. (AP)

Milk prices meeting
Dairy farmers in New Hampshire, Vermont and other New England states hope to get answers to their questions on milk prices today in Lebanon, New Hampshire. A panel of speakers is expected to answer such questions as why is the farm milk price so low, why is the retail price of milk so high, and who is making all the money? (AP)

FAHC public forum
Vermont Congressman Bernie Sanders is holding a forum tonight in Burlington on the troubles at Fletcher Allen Health Care. The hospital has been rocked recently be revelations that it skirted the state regulatory process in planning a major renovation and expansion project. (AP)

Qualitad closing Rutland plant
Qualitad Sales Corporation in Rutland announced it will close in February, putting 32 people out of work. The maker of plastic food containers plans to consolidate its operation in Kentucky. (AP)

Rutland courthouse closed
Defendants ordered held in the Rutland jail over the weekend had their court hearings behind bars yesterday. The Rutland District Courthouse has been closed the public for the last three days because of problems with air quality. (AP)

Temperatures normalize
More common early-winter temperatures are expected to return to Vermont following the recent cold snap. Most of the rest of the week is expected to bring daytime highs in the 30s and nighttime lows in the 20s. (AP)
