Gilman paper mill up for purchase
A Georgia company has offered to buy an idle paper mill in the Northeast Kingdom town of Gilman. (VPR)

The U.S. Justice Department has extended its review of a proposed merger between two large dairy companies, H.P. Hood of Massachussetts and the Dallas-based National Dairy Holdings. (VPR)

Vermont’s share of the Ford settlement
The state of Vermont is sharing a 51 (m)million dollar settlement with Ford Motor Company over deceptive trade practices.

Stuck chairlift
An electrical glitch caused a Magic Mountain chairlift to stop for three hours yesterday, leaving about 175 people suspended in the air. Some of the skiers jumped off the lift, using the snow to cushion their fall. The general manager of the ski area, says they weren’t supposed to jump off. He says the problem has been fixed — and anyone who asked for a full refund got one. Magic Mountain is in Londonderry. It has 17-hundred feet of vertical drop and four chairlifts. (AP)

Escaped inmate captured
An escaped inmate wanted on sexual assault charges is back in prison thanks to an off-duty oficer who spotted the man at Joe’s Pond Country Store in West Danville. (AP)
