The reinstallation of a bronze bust created by French sculptor Auguste Rodin has been delayed at a New York state-run campground on Lake Champlain.

State officials originally hoped to have the sculpture remounted on the Champlain Memorial Lighthouse at Crown Point by Memorial Day.

The Department of Environmental Conservation, which operates the Crown Point Campground where the lighthouse is located, says additional security measures are being installed at the site.

DEC officials said Monday the Rodin piece, will be reinstalled before the Samuel de Champlain quadricentennial event in September. The sculpture was donated by France in 1912.

The newly renovated memorial and a nearby pier reopened earlier this summer after a $2 million restoration project.
