Developer asks town to share costs of Wal-Mart review

The developer of a proposed Wal-Mart in St. Albans Town has some concerns about the town’s request that he pay for an independent review of the project’s economic and traffic studies.

Jeffrey Davis has asked the Development Review Board in a letter whether the town selectboard would help cover the cost of a review. Davis also asked how the reviewers would be selected, if his team can ask the reviewers questions and if the board can be certain that the evaluation would be impartial.

The board says it wants the review of the project before making a decision about whether the store should be built.
