The first of Vermont’s two annual archery seasons for deer is underway and bow hunters decked in camouflage are spending their free time in the woods. People who don’t bow hunt may be surprised at how the technology has changed in the last couple of decades. The simple ‘recurve’ bows that have been around since the days of Robin Hood have been replaced by smaller and more powerful models that use a pulley system. And that’s not all that’s different.
VPR’s Steve Zind stopped in at R& L Archery in Barre where owner Cedric Sanborn was good enough to give us a demonstration – and explain the differences between bow hunting and rifle hunting.
