Governor Jim Douglas has appointed a new Windham County State’s Attorney by elevating a deputy in the office to the job of top prosecutor.

Douglas has chosen Tracy Kelly Shriver to replace Dan Davis, who retired October 1.

Born in Burlington, Shriver graduated from high school in Essex and from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania before obtaining her law degree from Vermont Law School in 1995.

She clerked in the trial courts in Bennington and for a private law firm in Springfield before joining the Windham County state’s attorney’s office in 1999.
