(Host) Governor Jim Douglas says he expects to win over some Democrats disaffected with the candidacy of Burlington Mayor, Peter Clavelle. Clavelle, who has run for office in the past as a member of the Progressive Party, is now running for governor as a Democrat.

Douglas says some Democrats may not appreciate Clavelle’s switch in parties.

(Douglas) “Well, he’s been a Progressive office holder for quite a long time and I know a lot of Democrats who are not pleased at the prospect of someone coming into the primary of their party, and I expect a lot of them will support me. But it’s very early in the season, and we’ll have to see what happens.”

(Host) Clavelle has said he was raised as a Democrat in Winooski and now hopes to unite both parties.
