Campaign finance reports show that incumbent Republican Governor Jim Douglas is substantially ahead of his Democratic and independent challengers in the race to raise money for this fall’s election.

Campaign finance reports released yesterday showed that Douglas raised nearly $90,000 during the last month while Democrat Gaye Symington raised about $62,000.

Independent Anthony Pollina raised $10,000 in the last month.

The Douglas campaign now has about $368,000 in the bank; Symington has about $134,000 and Pollina less than $10,000.

Pollina’s campaign is working through a legal question about the limits of the campaign contributions he has received.
