Governor Jim Douglas and Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy plan to visit IBM’s corporate headquarters Tuesday in Armonk, New York. Douglas, a Republican, and Leahy, a Democrat, say they want to work together to make sure IBM’s plant in Essex stays strong.

IBM is Vermont’s largest private employer. It eliminated about 1,000 jobs last year. Douglas says he and Leahy want to find out what IBM’s needs are – and how the state might help it.
