Governor Jim Douglas has been chosen by the Northeast governors to lead the organization’s efforts to develop responsible energy policy in the region.

Douglas, who is attending the National Governors Association meeting in Washington, will organize a regional discussion on energy policy for the Coalition of the Northeast Governors, a nonpartisan group of governors from eight Northeastern states.

Douglas says the coalition will be a leader in the advancement of responsible, sustainable and affordable energy alternatives.

Douglas says the group already is working hard to advance the use of biofuels such as ethanol and biodiesel and biomass technologies in the region.
