Vermont’s campaign for governor has gotten limited attention so far this year.

That’s because it’s been largely overshadowed by the competitive races for the U.S. Senate and House.

That may begin to change later this month.

Governor Jim Douglas says he plans to formally launch his re-election campaign soon.

Democrat Scudder Parker has been on the campaign trail since he announced his candidacy in November.

Douglas says he plans to participate in debates with Parker but he doesn’t see any need to begin them until this fall.
