Police say charges could be filed this week against a driver they say caused a crash that killed two passengers while fleeing police.
Authorities say 28-year-old Michael Lewis, of Burlington had a criminal record of eluding police and other driving offenses before the crash early Saturday morning. Eighteen-year-old Samuel Laframboise, of Burlington, and 20-year-old Jason Schumann, of Winooski died in the wreck.
Police say Lewis was fleeing police following an underage drinking party in a South Burlington neighborhood when he crashed into an oncoming car. They’re awaiting test results to determine if Lewis, who didn’t have a valid driver’s license, was drunk.
