(Host) The Dummerston Selectboard has voted to reject Vermont Yankee’s emergency evacuation plan. Chairman Paul Normandeau says his board is concerned about emergency transportation routes, and notification issues:
(Normandeau) “We also have concerns about the fact that a lot of the residents in town don’t have weather radio-alerts – even though they’re all entitled to them. Our understanding is that only about one-third of people in town have weather-alert radios, which is the primary method of notifying the citizens in the community of an emergency.”
(Host) The Selectboard in Dummerston might approve Vermont Yankee’s evacuation plan if a series of improvements are made to it.
