Eden Prefers Solar Over Bio-Mass At Asbestos Mine

After town representatives met with state environmental officials, Eden select board members say solar could make sense at the site of the town’s abandoned asbestos mine.

The state asked last month whether Eden’s Select Board preferred either a bio-mass or a solar project if an alternative energy study funded by the Environmental Protection Agency proceeds.

The Select Board has decided to support the solar option.

Back on Town Meeting Day, voters in Eden and Lowell voted against declaring the mine a Superfund site – a move environmental officials say could have brought in money to clean it up.
