EHV Weidmann, an electrical equipment contractor in Saint Johnsbury, cut 27 jobs today. EHV Weidmann makes insulation for high-voltage applications in the electrical power industry. Vice President and General Manager John Goodrich says the company had to cut 15 people from staff and support areas, and 12 from production because of the worldwide market.

This is the second round of cuts for the company this year. Twenty-four people were laid off in September. EHV Weidmann is one of Saint Johnsbury’s largest employers. It now has 248 workers. Joel Schwartz, the director of economic development for the town of Saint Johnsbury, says officials had been expecting an announcement of cuts from the company.
