A Vermont National Guard engineering unit is back home in Vermont.

The 75 members of the 131st Engineer Company returned in tact yesterday after almost a year in Iraq.

Their expertise is road construction but in Iraq their duty was to clear roadside bombs.

The unit suffered no loss of life and only minor injuries.

Their commander, Capt. Jake Roy, says they defused about 1,200 improvised explosive devices over the course of a year.

The engineers arrived home yesterday morning from demobilization in Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
