(Host) The Essex Select Board has approved funds to pay for advanced DNA testing in an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a local couple.

William and Lorraine Currier went missing last month.

Linda Myers is a longtime member of the Essex Select Board, and she wants people to know the approved $15,000 dollars won’t come from tax-payers.

(Myers) "And I don’t know if people would really care about that or not if we were working to solve a mystery. We have the highest regard for our police department and we are usually more than happy to approve their request. We’ve never turned them down, at least in my ten years on the Board."

(Host) Instead, Myers says the money will come from the town’s Equitable Sharing Fund, which requires the board’s final approval for spending.

Earlier this week, police said they suspect there was foul play in the Curriers disappearance.

A $10,000 dollar reward has been offered by family members, in an effort to encourage witnesses to come forward with new information.
