A Vermont think tank advocating free markets and limited government has a new president.

Rick Bornemann has been appointed president and CEO of the Ethan Allen Institute. The Connecticut native comes to Vermont from a Washington lobbying firm. He’s a former congressional aide, lobbyist for the nuclear industry, and executive in the utility and railroad industries.

Bornemann replaces John McClaughry, who will continue with the institute as vice president. McClaughry says Bornemann is an energetic new leader who will make the institute more influential in Vermont policy debates.
