On the first day for new I.D. procedures at the Vermont-Quebec border, traffic flowed smoothly. Cuts in funding for local highways and bridges will result in higher property taxes or delayed road projects. Douglas administration and Democratic leaders have reached agreement on how to expand energy efficiency programs, without the need to raise taxes. Vermont’s largest electric utility will increase its rates by 2.3%, effective Friday, Feb. 1st.  On Super Bowl Sunday women in New England will have another sports option at Chittenden’s Mountain Top Lodge; Commentator Bill Mares on exploration and adventure.
