An exhibition currently on display at UVM’s Fleming Museum highlights a playful side of pop artist Andy Warhol.

In 1977, Warhol was commissioned by a friend, art collector Richard Weisman, to produce a series of silkscreen portraits of acclaimed athletes.

The result was ten colorful depictions of athletes from the spectrum of sports, including golfer Jack Nicklaus, ice skater Dorothy Hamill, and basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

VPR’s Neal Charnoff paid a visit to the Fleming, and sat down with Richard Weisman to talk about the exhibit, which is called "Andy Warhol’s Athletes".

He began by asking Weisman why he wanted to bring together the worlds of art and sports.

"Andy Warhol’s Athlete’s" will be on display at the Fleming museum through May 19th.
