Fairpoint suspends new installations during cutover; service to resume Feb. 9

FairPoint Communications is suspending new installation calls and service changes for two weeks starting Friday while in the final stages of switching New Hampshire landlines and DSL service over from Verizon.

FairPoint will still accept service requests during the two-week suspension, but the work will be delayed. After full-service is restored, it may take FairPoint longer than usual to respond. FairPoint’s Jeffrey Allen says most of the changes during the transition won’t be obvious to customers.

The cutover is the last step in the 10-month, $2 billion takeover of the Verizon network in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine.
