FairPoint Communications officials say they’ll be providing broadband communication services to all of its customers in 51 Vermont locations by the end of 2010.

Company officials and Governor Jim Douglas outlined the plan to use a combination of techniques that include wired service and in some areas, wireless service.

Some of the communities that will receive 100% coverage include rural areas such as Island Pond and Jamaica.

Company officials announced the plan at a news conference today in Ferrisburgh, which is slated to have full coverage by next summer.
FairPoint officials say similar projects are under way in Maine and New Hampshire.
