FCC commissioner to speak at media town meeting

The head of the Federal Communications Commission will attend a public meeting in Vermont on Monday to discuss the rules on corporate-owned media outlets. FCC Commissioner Michael Copps will join the owners of local radio and print outlets to discuss how the business-side of media affects the reporting that appears in newspapers and on the airwaves.

Congressman Bernie Sanders and Saint Michael’s College are hosting the town meeting. Also participating will be the owner of WDEV radio, the publisher of the Addison County Independent and members of the College’s journalism department. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester.
