Federal grant will assist workers with disabilities

Vermont will receive a half million dollars in federal funds to help people with disabilities find and keep work without losing their health benefits. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson announced the state grants. Under the program, states use the grants to help people with disabilities retain their Medicaid coverage when they become employed. Governor Jim Douglas says Vermonters with disabilities make a large contribution to the economy.
