Federal package seen as boon to Vt. energy firms

President Barack Obama says he wants to see the federal stimulus package create green jobs, and some Vermont companies say they expect that’s just what it will do.

Both House and Senate versions of the package up for a vote in the Senate on Tuesday contain more than $50 billion in tax credits and other incentives to support efficiency and renewable energy.

David Blittersdorf, chief executive at Williston-based Earth Turbines, which makes wind power turbines for the residential market, says that and other provisions of the stimulus package will increase demand for his firm’s products and that the company is planning to add jobs.

Jeff Wolfe, chief executive at GroSolar, based in White River Junction, says he, too, expects his firm will see strong business growth and new jobs.
