The U.S. Forestry Service says it has uprooted $1 million worth of marijuana plants found growing in Green Mountain National Forest this year.
A Special Agent says professional growers are migrating into the remote parts of public lands and making a great effort to hide from aerial surveillance and also from people who would steal the plants.
An investigation into pot growing in the forest found about 12 operations and nearly 300 plants, the agent said. Federal drug charges are pending against some of the growers.
