The Federal Emergency Management Agency will hold five briefings around the state to help communities apply for federal relief from last month’s nor’easter.

President Bush has issued a disaster declaration for seven counties hit hardest by the storm, which knocked out power to more than 50,000 homes and businesses.

Those counties are Bennington, Caledonia, Essex, Orange, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor.

FEMA disaster aid can cover up to 75% of costs associated with labor, debris removal, restoration of roadways and costs to public utilities.

The first meetings take place today in Newfane and Bennington.
