A Canadian filmmaker has returned historical artifacts he helped recover from the bottom of Lake Champlain more than 30 years ago.

Montreal native Kenn Feigelman recently returned a 250-year-old musket, a 19th-century tea kettle and other artifacts to museum officials in Plattsburgh.

Feigelman was part of an underwater film crew from Canada that spent two summers in the 1970s looking for artifacts in Lake Champlain dating back to battles fought in the American Revolution and the War of 1812.

He says he returned the items because they belong in the Plattsburgh area.

Local officials say the artifacts will be catalogued and placed in either the Battle of Plattsburgh Museum or the Clinton County Museum collection.
