The state’s largest health care provider is joining the state in ensuring that employees don’t lose money on their salaries when they’re called up for military duty.

Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington will make up the difference between an employee’s regular pay and military pay when the employee is called to active duty. Fletcher Allen also agreed to provide health insurance benefits for employee dependents who aren’t eligible for military health insurance benefits. Currently there are about a half a dozen Fletcher Allen employees on active duty.

Earlier this week the state of Vermont extended the same benefits to state employees.
